Wargaming - Combat Mission Cold War

Picked up the title hoping to scratch the Cold War itch I've been feeling with a cassette player and an 80s cellphone bring added to my collection, and was viscerally disappointed. Unintuitive controls, a less than helpful UI, and a broken AI.

Fought a desperate holding action on an instant-action mode, holding off a Soviet force with a mech battalion minus. I for a moment started writing an AAR, but then realised it would be pointless because the fight didn't mean anything, because my mortars didn't fire, my units wouldn't shoot, and the enemy stubbornly refused to finish me off. I checked the Steam reviews afterwards, which were "Mixed". People are charitable I suppose, lots of gripes from new and old players about a lack of a physics engine; no simulation at all, just dice rolls; poor graphics quality (which I didn't mind but I didn't realise the game was from 2021, felt like a US military contracted solution from the early 2000s)

2/10, neat premise, execution ruined my day.
